Calling voters in Tampa about vote-by-mail!

published on: April 14, 2023

On Wednesday, April 12, and Thursday, April 13, we held an organization-wide bilingual phone bank in our new Chispa office in Brandon (Hillsborough County). This was the first of many hybrid phonebanks where volunteers were able to join in person and on Zoom.

The FCV Chispa team made two rounds of calls to voters in the City of Tampa to remind over 500 voters to renew their vote by mail requests before the deadline on Saturday, April 15, 2023, at 5 pm. This is so they can receive their vote by mail forms in time to vote in the Tampa Municipal Runoff Election on Tuesday, April 25, 2023. We also called around 500 of our members in Palm Beach County to encourage them to renew their vote-by-mail requests!

This was a truly collaborative effort across our programs, with the event being facilitated by our new Chispa Program Director, Denise Lugo, Field Advocacy Manager, Carol Davey, Lead Digital Organizer, Savana Elliott, and Democracy For All Digital Organizer, Keilah Williams.

This is just the start of our 2023 Vote-By-Mail Reset Campaign to make sure our members, and the Florida electorate, are aware that all vote-by-mail requests expired at the end of 2022 and, as a result, in order to receive a vote-by-mail ballot in the 2023-2024 general election cycle, a new request must be submitted to your county’s Supervisor of Elections office.

If you live in Tampa and want to vote-by-mail for the upcoming election on April 25, please visit our Voter Information Center to check your voter registration status, find early voting locations, and request your ballot.
