Elections have consequences. Our leaders make decisions every day that impact the health of our land, water, climate, democracy, and communities. Florida Conservation Voters’ core role in the electoral process is to give voters the information and tools they need to elect conservation champions and build power for Florida’s environmental community.
FCV uses the power of endorsements and political action to build the strongest possible state-level legislative support for conservation values. Candidate endorsements are not made according to political party affiliation. Our research shows that Florida voters – from all political persuasions – overwhelmingly support environmental protections that safeguard our drinking water, protect our natural areas, and preserve wildlife habitat.
Our criteria is winnability, candidate quality, and alignment with FCV’s interests. Candidates are endorsed based on their degree of alignment with their districts’ voters on environmental issues, willingness to be a conservation champion, and voting and advocacy track record.
FCV helps to elect lawmakers who protect our environment and healthy communities for everyone. We are one of the only organizations in Florida that tackles both environmental issues and elections. We envision a government that reflects the people it serves and lawmakers who vigorously fight for policies that protect our environment and create a healthy, sustainable future for all Floridians.
