Climate Change Talk with Indivisible St. John’s

published on: March 10, 2019

Last week, FCV’s Grant Lewis spoke with our friends at the St. John’s chapter of Indivisible to discuss sea level rise and its impacts on the St. John’s community. Indivisible is an engaged group of citizens with a mission to build and sustain an inclusive proactive community that will protect our environment, our freedoms and our basic human and civil rights. The topic of sea level rise and the dangers of inaction on climate change was openly received and there was a great dialogue about the importance of these issues.

St. Augustine ranks high on the list of areas threatened by sea level rise in Florida making this group uniquely qualified to discuss the impacts of climate change. They know that they need to make their voices heard on the city, county, state, and federal level in order to protect their community. This mixed approach to action with all branches of government is vital to cause change. It was refreshing talking to such an active and engaged audience that is ready and willing to take action and fight for our environment and our communities. We’re looking forward to continuing collaboration with this group in the future!
