House and Senate Agree on Funding for Florida Forever

published on: March 8, 2020

Statement from Aliki Moncrief, Executive Director, Florida Conservation Voters:

“Today the House and Senate chairs for natural resources appropriations, Sen. Mayfield and Rep. Raschein, agreed to $100 million in funding for Florida Forever. We hope that legislators will build on this amount next year and make funding permanent for our vital water and land conservation programs. The urgency to protect conservation lands from being paved over and lost forever grows every day, especially as climate change alters our natural landscapes. Dedicated funding will help us protect our remaining conservation gems so that future generations will be able to enjoy our beautiful waterways and public lands. We are grateful to the thousands of Conservation Voters who called, emailed, and tweeted their legislators about the importance of funding Florida Forever. Because of them, we are one step closer to fulfilling the core purpose of the 2014 Water and Land Conservation Amendment.”
