Florida’s Wetlands Under Attack; Will Gov. DeSantis Speak Up?

published on: February 6, 2020

Florida has a unique and remarkable network of rivers, streams, lakes, aquifers, and of course, our prized Everglades ecosystem.

Unfortunately, President Trump is engaging in an all-out assault on our clean water safeguards. His administration has decided to gut vital Clean Water Act protections and move us backward on the progress we’ve made in cleaning up our waterways. Even some of Trump’s own appointees disagree with this decision, which ignores science, disregards the intent of the law, and will turn our streams into dumping grounds for big polluters and destroy millions of acres of wetlands.

Nationwide, the Dirty Water Rule will put clean drinking water for tens of millions of people at risk, especially the low-income communities and communities of color that are already disproportionately impacted by polluted water.

Clean, safe drinking water is a basic human right and we should be doing more to protect our water resources, not less.

YOU CAN HELP. Use our easy email form to urge Governor Ron DeSantis to use his special relationship with President Trump to oppose his Administration’s gutting of the Clean Water Act.

Thank you for speaking up for our water.
