Today FCV staff members Aliki Moncrief, Lindsay Cross, Laura Ciociola, Carson Mitchell, and I walked the halls of the Florida State Capitol. Our purpose: to hand-deliver a copy of the Gems Report to every single Representative and Senator.
We hauled the 160+ reports in a beach wagon, fitting for our message of land and water conservation. From the newest freshman members to seasoned environmental champions, we were happy to meet and greet with Florida’s lawmakers. Through our report, we were able to engage in many meaningful conservation conversations, advocating increased Florida Forever funding and the natural gems that make our state so special.
The 2020 legislative session starts in January and we hope that this is the year that we restore full funding to Florida Forever. With your help and your voice, we can ensure that every legislator returns to the Capitol with an urgency to save Florida’s remaining natural places.
