For the month of July, Florida Conservation Voters will host its first-ever Virtual 5K to celebrate our 5th year as an organization and help people stay active and engaged during this time of uncertainty.
With so many social activities cancelled or postponed, it’s hard to feel connected. Many of us are wondering what we can do socially while still staying safe. By participating in FCV’s Birthday 5K, you can enjoy nature in your community, even while social distancing.
Our mission is to elect lawmakers who will protect our environment and healthy communities for everyone. With the current reality of COVID-19, it’s apparent now more than ever how much people need outdoor spaces. One of our biggest fights is making sure every Floridian has access to parks and public lands. That’s why we worked to pass the Water and Land Conservation Amendment in 2014 and why we continue to advocate for public lands today.
Will you join us in celebrating our birthday by registering for our 5K?
Registration is $15 with 100% of profits being used to advance our work for Florida’s environment, including fighting the three proposed toll roads, lobbying for land and water protections, and electing pro-environment leaders. Participants will receive a downloadable race bib and a #LoveFlorida sticker with the option to upgrade their registration to include our one-of-a-kind #LoveFlorida hat.
And while participating, we encourage you to share inspiration with friends and loved ones by posting photos of nature with the hashtag #5KForFlorida to our Facebook Event page.
FCV advises participants to stay up to date on the latest news and guidelines from the CDC, WHO, and local and national authorities.
FCV’s virtual Birthday 5K is safe, accessible, and fun. All you need is a pair of sneakers, hiking boots, flip flops, or just your bare feet to participate. Getting outside is great for your physical, mental, and emotional health.
