During the 2023 legislative session, HB 195/SB 178 was filed in the State House by Rep. Lindsay Cross and Rep. Joe Casello and in the Senate by Senator Lori Berman. These bills aim to upgrade schools that serve as shelters during hurricanes. Among the upgrades proposed are:
