“Rick Scott’s announcement today shows just how low he will go to mask his eight years of destructive environmental policies. He is abusing his official position, and voters will not fall for it. What’s more, he cannot take credit for increasing Everglades funding and accelerating restoration projects when the reality is that Florida voters made that possible when they passed the Water and Land Conservation Amendment in 2014. Today’s announcement is far from a double victory for the Everglades — it is more like political maneuvering to get a promotion he hasn’t earned.”
