Take Action: Encourage Your School Board to Apply For Electric Bus Grant Program

Florida’s children have a right to breathe clean air but one in every ten kids suffers from asthma. Low-income and communities of color disproportionately bear environmental burdens and are more likely to suffer from adverse environmental health impacts. More than 2 million kids are exposed to toxins and known carcinogens that cause asthma, heart and lung disease, and cancer from riding dirty diesel school buses. Electric school buses are safer, cleaner, cheaper long-term, and produce ZERO emissions.

With your action today, we can provide a clean and fiscally responsible way to secure a healthy future for our children.

The Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP) has allocated nearly $116 million of Volkswagen Settlement Mitigation funds to school bus replacement projects. It is critical that counties like yours apply for FDEP’s match program. There is not a moment to spare; the application period ends on Jan. 18, 2021.

Act now to encourage your school district to apply for clean electric buses! Please contact local, targeted school districts in your home county using the associated actions below:
